(1) The Two-Sides-of-the-Story Agreement

I agree that neither of us owns the complete truth all the time — even when one of us is extremely convinced that we do.

I will try to understand your point of view, especially when it is completely different from mine. The objective of an argument shall never be to win against each other, but to somehow make sure that we win together.

(2) The Consultation-Before-Conclusion Agreement

I agree that any problem involving us shall first be discussed by us.

No overthinking alone. No imaginary arguments inside my head. No silently deciding what you meant.

If something hurts, confuses, irritates, or worries me, I will try to talk, listen, and figure it out with you. Partner consultation is mandatory. ❤️

(3) The Different-People, Same-Team Agreement

I acknowledge that loving each other does not require us to become identical people. We are allowed different interests, tastes, moods, preferences, and reactions.

One of us may love Chicken Biryani. The other may strongly disagree. One of us may want Chocolate Milkshake. The other may question that life choice entirely. 😂

Different people. Same team.

(4) The Empathy-First Agreement

Before assuming the worst, I agree to first remember the person I know and love.

I will try to understand where your feelings are coming from — your experiences, pressures, fears, and everything you may not always know how to explain. Judgment may wait. Understanding gets the first chance.

And if either of us forgets this clause, the other is officially authorised to say: “Clause Number Four.” 😌

(5) The Imperfect-But-Permanent Agreement

I acknowledge that neither of us is perfect. We will make mistakes. We will misunderstand each other. We may become angry, emotional, unreasonable, silent, irritating — or all five at once.

When that happens, I agree that the solution is not to search for an exit. It is to find our way back to each other.

The available options are: Talk. Cool down. Hug. Eat something. Try again.

There is no “Okay bye forever” option available in this agreement. No cancellation clause. No convenient escape hatch. 😌❤️

(7) The Build-Our-Dream-Life Agreement

I agree that our relationship will not only be a place where we find comfort. It will also be a place from which we grow.

We will push each other towards becoming healthier, wiser, stronger, more knowledgeable, and better at everything we choose to pursue.

We will work towards careers that make us proud. We will build a life that makes our parents and families proud.

And little by little, we will turn those conversations that once began with — “Imagine one day if we could…” — into — “Remember when this was only a dream?”

The future we have imagined deserves the best versions of both of us. So we build it together.

(8) The Safe-Place Agreement

I agree that no matter how difficult the outside world becomes, this relationship should always remain one place where both of us know:

I am safe here.
I am heard here.
I am wanted here.
I am loved here.

Bad days are allowed. Weak moments are allowed. Crying, worrying, failing, and starting again are all allowed.

What is never allowed is making the other person wonder whether they still matter.

(9) The Unlimited-Love Guarantee

I acknowledge that love under this agreement has:

No expiry date.
No usage limit.
No renewal fee.
No cancellation policy.

Affection may occasionally be delivered in the form of random hugs, irritating phone calls, forehead kisses, food, terrible jokes, unnecessary teasing, checking whether you reached home, and asking “saptiya?” approximately fourteen times.

The quantity of love supplied may increase without prior notice.
